Therapeutic Approach & Modalities

I provide individual therapy sessions for teens and adults, lasting 50 to 85 minutes, tailored to meet your unique needs.

During our initial 1–2 sessions, we'll collaborate to create a personalized treatment plan that works best for you. Although my primary modalities are EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and IFS (Internal Family Systems), I incorporate several complimentary approaches (as seen below) to best fit your needs and where you are in the healing process.

Together, we'll work towards your growth and healing in a safe, supportive, and trauma informed space.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based approach to healing trauma, emotional distress, and relational challenges. By utilizing bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tactile cues, EMDR helps the brain reprocess stuck memories and alleviate emotional pain. In addition to addressing PTSD, anxiety, depression, and phobias, EMDR is highly effective in treating attachment wounds and relational issues, enabling individuals to rebuild trust, improve emotional connections, and foster healthier relationships. This compassionate, structured therapy nurtures resilience and supports the mind’s natural capacity to heal, empowering you on the path to recovery and growth.

Polyvagal Informed Therapy

A polyvagal-informed therapy practice is rooted in the science of the nervous system, offering a compassionate and holistic approach to healing. This method draws upon the polyvagal theory, which highlights the crucial role of the vagus nerve in regulating emotional and physiological states. By understanding how the nervous system responds to stress and trauma, polyvagal-informed therapy helps individuals build awareness of their body’s signals, cultivate safety, and restore balance. Techniques often include breathwork, mindfulness, and somatic exercises, supporting clients in calming their nervous system and fostering connection and resilience. Ideal for addressing trauma, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation, this approach empowers individuals to develop tools for self-regulation and discover lasting emotional well-being. Experience healing through the gentle power of polyvagal-informed therapy.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is an empowering, evidence-based approach that helps individuals understand and heal the complex inner workings of their minds. Rooted in the belief that everyone has multiple “parts” within their psyche, IFS provides a compassionate framework to explore these parts, often shaped by past experiences, as well as the core Self—a wise, calm center of healing. Through guided techniques, individuals learn to recognize and nurture wounded parts, address conflicts within their internal system, and restore balance and harmony. IFS is particularly effective for addressing trauma, attachment wounds, relational struggles, and emotional blocks, promoting self-awareness and deeper connections with oneself and others. Discover the healing potential of IFS therapy and reconnect with your authentic Self.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy And Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Top-down therapy approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), focus on understanding and reshaping thought patterns to influence emotions and behaviors. CBT emphasizes identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, equipping individuals with practical tools to reframe their thinking and respond more effectively to life’s challenges. DBT, a specialized form of CBT, combines cognitive strategies with mindfulness and emotional regulation techniques, offering powerful support for managing intense emotions and improving relationships. Both approaches empower individuals to develop greater self-awareness and healthier coping mechanisms, fostering lasting emotional and behavioral change. Discover the transformative impact of CBT and DBT in creating a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Compassion-Focused Therapy

Compassion-focused therapy is designed to help you cultivate kindness and understanding towards yourself, especially during times of distress or self-criticism. This approach combines insights from psychology and mindfulness to address patterns of shame and self-judgment, fostering emotional resilience and self-acceptance. By learning to harness compassion, you can create a more balanced and supportive mindset, paving the way for healing and personal growth.

Person-centered Therapy

Person-centered therapy is a compassionate and non-judgmental approach that places you at the heart of the healing process. Rooted in the belief that you are the expert on your own life, this therapy focuses on creating a safe and accepting environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. By fostering self-awareness and self-acceptance, person-centered therapy empowers you to uncover your inner strengths and work towards personal growth and fulfillment.

Attachment Informed Care

Attachment theory explores the deep emotional bonds we form with others, beginning in early childhood and shaping how we connect in relationships throughout life. It emphasizes the importance of secure attachments for emotional well-being, while also recognizing how challenges in these early bonds can impact trust, communication, and connection. In therapy, understanding your attachment style can offer valuable insights into your patterns and help create healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
